1. The four kinds of sellers on eBay.
===========================

In the book “The Part Time Plan” (PartTimePlan.com) Jim Cockrum discuss the four ways I see people approaching eBay. The approach that I encourage can be summed up like this:Maximize your return while spending as little time as possible working your business. Automate as much as possible and launch new income streams.

There are even ways to make your entire eBay business HANDS FREE. I literally mean you NEVER log in to eBay.

This makes “multiple streams” of income possible. I love setting up new streams of income while the other streams just keep flowing in.

Why is it important to understand the different approaches to eBay?

It’s important because there are many misconceptions and bad assumptions out there. Many of these misconceptions are even reinforced by eBay itself! You can get sucked into a full-time eBay JOB if you aren’t careful.

For example, I’ve met far too many “powersellers” that are selling many items on eBay every month, but they are working far too hard at it. You’ll see these same eBay sellers bragged about by eBay as “success stories”, but these sellers aren’t making the kind of money they should be making.

These “successful sellers” lack many of the simplest marketing tactics. If they are waiting on eBay to teach them these simple skills they will be waiting a long time! The fact is eBay has no incentive to ever teach them the true marketing power of eBay.

Most eBay sellers lack…
o a back end sales funnel to sell higher profit items (on or OFF
    eBay)
o a customer list for repeat marketing (on or OFF eBay)
o information products that provide a source of leads and high profit
    margins. Countless possibilities here.
o an effective “about me” page to further market themselves to the
    massive traffic swarm on eBay
o a big picture perspective of how much control eBay has over their
financial future and what they can do to get control BACK.

One of the major goals of this newsletter is to change the way online entrepreneurs like you see the Internet and eBay. I want you to see the online world as a constant source of new income streams that can be automated and abandoned.

Treat your customers right and gain long term loyalty…on autopilot!

For a few more days we are offering the lowest price we’ve ever offered on my best selling books. They are guaranteed to change the way you see eBay and the Internet. The hundreds of success stories I’ve received speak for themselves.

2. Profit by selling NOTHING on eBay
===========================
This article originally ran in Jan ‘07, but I’ve added some updates to put a new twist on this great idea. One of the most creative ways to profit using eBay that I’ve ever encountered actually involves SELLING NOTHING from your own eBay account.Let me explain.

You can partner with powersellers on eBay to “back end” sell eBooks and other easily delivered products (products you write/create or products created by others).

Take advantage of the huge customer base and massive traffic exposure of the powerseller and split the profits you help them uncover. My estimate is that 95% of all powersellers on eBay have NO IDEA how to do this.

These partnerships can be tricky to establish and must be built on trust. You have to be sure not to violate eBay policy in the establishment of these partnerships (be careful how you approach other sellers to avoid being accused of spam).

…but when done right this is a VERY simple and powerful concept.

EXAMPLE: Many eBay sellers running a large number of auctions could be adding 50 or more new leads to their email list every day…but they have no idea how to do it or why they even should.

Let’s step through one example:
o Powersellers get a lot of traffic to their auctions
o Most powersellers do NO “back-end” marketing
o A simple aweber.com name and email capture form on their about
me page would yield great results
o There are many ebooks to be found that would make GREAT up-
sells and back-end sales for the eBay customers that join the
   mailing list
o You could easily sell a product found on clickbank.com and share
the profits with your eBay powerseller partner

Another possibility:

Most eBay sellers are very intimidated at the thought of adding video to their auction, but we know the power of video right? (There are several recent videos about the power of adding video to your eBay auctions on my blog at www.jimcockrum.com/blog)Do you see where I am going with this? High volume sellers on eBay are great potential partners! You need to know the rules though when using these strategies. For example, you MAY NOT invite eBay customers to join your mailing list from within your auction listings.

You MAY NOT send an email to your eBay customers with the sole intent of inviting them to join your mailing list.

You CAN invite your customers to join your mailing list using your “About Me” page.

You CAN invite customers to join your mailing list as part of any email follow up message you send them (don’t make the invitation the main point of the email).

The vast majority of eBay powersellers would be delighted to be able to take back some of the control of their business from eBay. As a reader of this newsletter you hold the keys to helping them do that.

As a reminder these kinds of ideas are what we are all about at MySilentTeam.com and it’s the kind of thing that my book (Silent Sales Machine) is full of.

Stay creative!

After the article we ran last week titled “Stealing Stuff to Sell On the Internet and eBay” we actually had some people send us angry emails and unsubscribe requests because they thought we were actually endorsing THEFT!
Can I just say “Sheeesh”!!Two thoughts here for those that are still with me.1. The process of selling public domain information may FEEL like stealing, but it’s perfectly legal, ethical, and VERY profitable! Check out this link to get the full scoop:

If so there is a fantastic source of eBay inventory that I want to tell you about…

…but it’s so good that I’m a bit hesitant to share my strategy with EVERYONE on this mailing list. Anyone in ANY U.S. city can use this resource, but if you live near any of the above mentioned cities you have a bit of an advantage on getting some great inventory to sell on eBay!

We’ve started using this new resource ourselves recently and I’m very impressed with how easy it is to find profitable “light bulk” deals to sell on eBay . I’ve just added a special report to the bonus pool of MySilentTeam.com that spells out the details of how to use them. Check the bonus pool of MySilentTeam.com if you are a member, or if you are considering joining now is the time to do it!I even spoke with the marketing director of this company and am even more impressed with the opportunity after our discussion about future plans and ideas they are pursuing.Members of MySilentTeam.com log in and check the bonus pool for full details.=================

What does *full access mean?

The only benefit you DON’T get with a $5 trial membership is access to the bonus pool where I’ve crammed over $1 thousand worth of items that you simply won’t find free anywhere else. Only full members get access to that.

10 Good Reasons Why Ebooks are the Perfect Products to Sell On Ebay!!!

You may not realise this but an eBook is the perfect product to sell on eBay, and
here are 10 good reasons why.
1. An eBook costs you nothing to create. It’s true; you can create an
eBook at no cost whatsoever using free tools downloaded from the
internet. Do you know of any other products that can be created at no
cost?
2. You do not need to store or hold any physical stock. As your eBook
is a digital file it is stored on your PC or web server, there is no need to
have your garage full of wrapping paper and goods.
3. An eBook can be delivered instantly to your customer, even if you
are in bed asleep. Yes, with eBay’s digital delivery system your eBook
can be instantly delivered. You can also use specialist software to ensure
your eBook is delivered instantly to your customer. No more rushing to the
post office or chasing lost orders.
4. You can create as many new products as you want anytime you
want? That’s right; you could create a brand new product every week if
you wanted to.
5. Your own eBook is unique to you. If you are the sole author of your
very own eBook you have created a ‘one off’ product that can not be
obtained anywhere else. This means you have no competitors.
6. An eBook can make you money months (or even years) after the
initial sale. With relevant ‘recommendations’ in your eBook in the form of
affiliate links an eBook can make you money many years after it was
created.
7. An eBook can drive targeted visitors to your websites. Yes, write an
eBook on any given subject and provide links to your eBay store and
websites and you will have guaranteed ‘targeted’ traffic.
8. An eBook can gain you expert status in any niche you wish. Write
an eBook on gardening and you will be seen as an expert gardener. Write
an eBook on fishing and you will be seen as an expert fisherman. Expert
status can make you a lot of money if you do it right.
9. An eBook can generate sales of your high ticket items. If you have
high priced items for sale create a ‘teaser’ in the form of an eBook. Use
this eBook to generate sales of your high ticket items by allowing other
eBay members to sell your eBook. Each sale made by other eBay
members will promote your high priced products.
10. Ebooks can build your mailing list at an incredible rate. As an
eBook author you are seen as an expert so now is the time to capture
leads. Provide links in your eBook to your squeeze pages and watch your
subscriber rate soar.

Five Simple Steps to Your First Ebay Sale

It’s surprisingly simple to get started posting your very first auction on eBay. Here’s what you need to do.

Step 1: Open an eBay seller’s account.

If you’ve bought things on eBay, then you already have an account – just log in with it and click ‘Sell’ in the toolbar at the top of the page, then click ‘Create a seller’s account’. If you’ve never used eBay before, then you’ll need to open an account first using the ‘register’ link underneath the toolbar, and then click ‘Sell’ and ‘Create a seller’s account’. The eBay site will then guide you through the process. For security, this may involve giving card details and bank information.

Step 2: Decide what to sell.

For your first little experiment with eBay, it doesn’t really matter what you sell. Take a look around the room you’re in – I’m sure there’s something in there that you’re not all that attached to and could put in the post. Small books and CDs are ideal first items.

Step 3: Submit your item.

Click ‘Sell’, and you’re on your way to listing your item.

The first thing you need to do is choose a category – it’s best to just type in what the item is and let eBay choose for you. Next, write a title and description. Include key words you think people will search for in the title box, and all the information you have about the item in the description box.

Now set a starting price. A low price £0.01 or $0.01 is the best starting price, as it draws people in to bid who otherwise wouldn’t, and items will almost never finish at such a low price. The next thing to set is the duration of the auction: 3, 5, 7 or 10 days. This is up to you: longer sales will usually get more bids, but will also seem to drag on forever. If you’ve taken a picture, add it now – items with pictures always sell for more. Finally, tick the payment methods you will accept (just PayPal is best for now), and where you will post to (limit yourself to your own country to begin with). Submit and you’re done!

Step 4: Wait for it to sell.

This is just a matter of sitting back and letting eBay do its thing – buyers will find your item and leave bids on it. Some bidders might email you with questions about the item, and you should do your best to answer these questions as quickly as you can.

Remember that if your item doesn’t sell then you can list it again for free once.

Step 5: Collect payment and post it.

eBay will send your buyer emails guiding them through the process of sending you payment for the item. Make sure you have the money before you send anything.

Once you’ve got the payment, all you need to do is pack the item for shipping(make sure to use some bubble wrap), use PayPal to print the label for your package, then just drop it off at the post office.
